Photo Artista Oil - iPhone Info

Photo Artista is a painting tool that takes no time to master in order to create your own original work of art. Our efficient method in a simple interface requires a few easy steps: Start with a photo, choose a paint style, and then apply … let the application do the work. All that is required of you is the appreciation – we will take care of the rest.

This app applies the most sophisticated brush strokes, lighting and canvas texture to your images with the option to remove texturing when printing to canvas. Photo Artista is a professional artistic media that graphic artists, photographers, and hobbyists rely on for high quality end results.


iPad, IPhone & iTouch Interface and Usage

The inteface for both iPad and iPhone consist of 6 icon-style buttons found on the bottom of either device. The following instructions are explained using the iPad as an example, however the iPhone and iTouch operate the same way with exception of the small blue buttons in place of the iconic ones:

1. Get Photo

Import your photo from the camera roll or library.

Message: "Rendering Photo Artista. The first time you bring a photo into PhotoArtista, the default Paint Style is applied. This process initially takes 20 seconds, however when fine-tuning, the effect will render adjustments in half the time.

2. Paint Style

Choose a paint style by touching the thumbnail preset under each paint category. The chosen preset will apply predetermined attributes to your photo that can be fine-tuned. You can save your own custom preset by going to the save menu to use the "Save Preset" option. To delete a preset, use the blue edit icon "scissors" found lower left of the paint style menu.

Oil Portrait   [ Recommended for close ups and head shots. ]

Renders a smaller “Brush Size” and “Bristle Depth” amount with some “Canvas” texture. Note: Canvas texture can removed by moving slider all the way to the left.

Oil Landscape    [ Recommended for outdoor scenes. ]

Renders a small-to-medium “Brush Size” and “Bristle Depth” amount with more “Canvas” texture.

Oil Realism   [Technique where painting looks true-to-life. ]

Renders smallest “Brush Size”, with no “Bristle Depth” or “Canvas” texture. Use the "Tone" or "Lighten" slider to add interest to the realism painting.

Oil Impressionism   [ Loose thick strokes & heavier paint built up. ]

Renders medium-to-large “Brush Size” and “Bristle Depth” amount with no “Canvas” option. Note: Use “Stroke Variation” to change bristle depth appearance.

Oil Expressionism   [ Unnatural or vibrant colors and paint build up. ]

Renders medium-to-large “Brush Size” and “Bristle Depth” amount with no “Canvas” option. Uses strong “Tone” and “Color Shift” amounts to achieve unnatural color.

Oil Tone Painting    [ Monochromatic technique. ]

Renders a smaller “Brush Size” and “Bristle Depth” amount with no “Canvas” option. Uses the full “Tone” amount to achieve the best values in the light and dark areas of the painting.

Oil Abstract    [ Color and form make up the subject of the painting. ]

Renders large “Brush Size” and “Bristle Depth” amount.

3. Fine-Tune

The Paint Style attributes can be fine-tuned to give your painting a true-to-life look or one that has the appearance of loosely dabbed paint like an impressionism (sliders are explained below) .

Brush Style

These are bristle patterns seen in the painting. Control the amount using the bristle depth slider.

Brush Size

For accuracy move slider left for a smaller brush size or right to increase brush for larger thicker strokes.

Bristle Depth

Control the amount of bristle pattern seen in the painting by moving slider to right.

Canvas

Move slider right to control how much canvas is seen through the paint.

Tone

Change the overall color tone of your painting by moving slider to the right. Some of the original color may be seen since tone on maximum setting only covers 85%. To change the tone touch the color chip left of the slider.

Lighten

Add brightness and luminosity to your painting by moving slider to the right.

Color Shift

Moving the slider either left or right will shift the paintings color range from red through yellow, green, and blue.

4. Artistic Edges

Artistic edges are provided to give the appearance of a painting not completely filled in on a canvas. Use the "Canvas Texture" slider to add or decrease the texture in the areas around the edge. Change the color of the canvas by touching the color chip defaulted to white. Remove the edge by choosing none.

5. Save

Paintings can be saved to the camera roll or emailed (explained below) .

Save Preset

A preset is a recording of all attributes used to create your painting. When a preset is saved it can be found on the "Paint Style" menu. Presets can be applied to new photos and modified.

Email

When email is chosen a rendering process begins. Depending on the resolution size: low, med or high will determine how long the painting takes to render. A high-resolution painting is complex and can take up to 2 minutes to render.

Save to Camera Roll

This is a professional painting tool, allow 60 seconds to render the painting using low and medium settings. Allow 90 - 120 seconds rendering time for full resolution setting.

Settings

This is where low, medium and high-resolution settings can be changed. IMPORTANT: Settings will not apply until you "Get Photo" again from the camera roll.

6. Original Photo

The original photo can be seen by touching this button. This is very helpful for seeing the before and after effect.

Manage Presets

You can save your own custom preset by going to the save menu to use the "Save Preset" option. To delete a preset, use the blue edit icon "scissors" found lower left of the paint style. Delete individual presets by touching the red delete button.

Because this is a professional painting app allow 60 seconds time when rendering the final output on the low and medium resolution settings; allow 90 - 120 seconds time on the high resolution setting.

NOTE: Texture and depth are slightly exaggerated on the iPad display and will be correctly rendered when saved to camera roll or emailed.
